Breeding and making selection are two very different things. Breeding means to mate the bitch and the stud of the same breed and take care of the puppy, while breeding with selection, or in different words engaging in qualitative breeding, understands mating the bitch and the male without any defects and that satisfy the breed standard.

The stud carries the bigger part of the responsibility because he is the one that can mate with numerous bitches and that way the final quality of mongrels depend mostly on him. The bitch needs to be somewhat larger because there are cases of complications while whelping when the bitch weighs under 2,5 kg that in most cases end with Caesarian section.

They say it is easy to buy a ready champion, but it is a skill to train your champion from a puppy. In a litter there are usually 2 to 3 puppies so because of the hard whelp and small number of puppies this breed is known as one of the more expensive ones.

Because of its size and temperament it is a very wanted breed.

Yorkshire terrier is a dog that needs the nurture and attention to be pretty. There is a grooming of a dog that is used for the exhibition and the grooming of a dog that is only a pet. Those are two very different things.

The pet, in most cases, has shorter fur since it is easier to keep it well-maintained. It is bathed once in every two weeks, and combed every day (it takes 10 minutes).

The exhibit is a dog that beside pretty head, great body, ideal character needs to have a pretty, long, groomed hair. To achieve that quality the fur needs to be brushed, oiled with bistn oil and rolled up in pieces pf paper that are professionally called "papilotnice". Shampoo that we use for bathing the exhibition dog is different from the one that is used for a pet. In grooming of the exhibition dog there is a certain cosmetic that needs to be used regularly. That treatment is practiced as long as the dog participates on the exhibitions or in other words while we want it to be in the top form. Without those treatments there are no results.
